There’s nothing better in the world of food than trying something new! Or at very least, trying something familiar, in a new way. This isn’t something new to me, but I seem to be the one to introduce the concept of “grilled fruit” to a lot of people I know. I’m often met with awkward stares when I say things like “oh, you like watermelon huh? You ever put it on the grill?” While I suggest you give that a try, it’s pineapple that comes along and steals the show! What grilling these things does is, the heat pretty much caramelizes the natural sugars in these fruits, making them even sweeter. Take something that is already really sweet on its own… and I think you can see where I’m going with this!  Be careful tho, you don’t want it to burn, it has to be JUST right! As usual, the Food Network has you covered. They have a great recipe that really takes this concept of grilled fruit to a whole new level.

Here is what you’ll need to make Grilled Pineapple with Nutella:

2 pineapples, peeled, cut crosswise into 1/2-inch-thick slices and core removed
2/3 cup mascarpone cheese, room temperature
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
2/3 cup chocolate-hazelnut spread (recommended: Nutella)
6 tablespoons whipping cream Olive oil
3 tablespoons chopped toasted hazelnuts
Oh and before I leave you, let me share another lesser known tip, specifically about watermelon. Next time you sit down for a nice slice of watermelon, do yourself a favor and put SALT on it. You read that right, SALT! Trust me!
